Eva Darren Finds Solace In Familys Support

FAMAS Apologizes to Eva Darren, Son Accepts

Eva Darren Finds Solace in Family's Support

The 72nd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) has formally apologized to veteran actress Eva Darren after a blunder during the recent awards ceremony. Darren's son, Fernando de la Peña, had earlier expressed outrage over the incident, which involved his mother's Best Supporting Actress award being announced but not presented.

Apology and Comfort

In a statement, FAMAS president Fernando Poe Jr. apologized for the error and stated that Eva Darren "has found some comfort in the midst of a loving family which includes all of you." He added, "Eva Darren and her family have accepted the apology of the FAMAS 2024 organizers after dropping the case." Fernando de la Peña confirmed the acceptance, saying, "On behalf of my mother Eva Darren and I, we accept the apology of FAMAS and its organizers."

Grievances and Recognition

Fernando de la Peña initially blasted FAMAS for the slight to his mother during the awards ceremony. He had said, "This is a total disrespect to my mother and all the other nominees." FAMAS' apology came after the public outcry over the incident and a subsequent meeting between FAMAS organizers and Eva Darren's family.

Eva Darren, a long-time actress in the Philippines, was awarded as Best Supporting Actress in the 18th FAMAS in 1970. Her son's grievances and FAMAS' subsequent apology have brought attention to the importance of recognizing and honoring the achievements of veteran artists in the film industry.
