He led the San Francisco 49ers to three NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl appearance during his four seasons with the team from 2011-14. Harbaugh is known for his tough and demanding coaching style, but he has also been praised for his ability to develop quarterbacks. He has coached four quarterbacks to Pro Bowls: Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick, Andrew Luck, and Shea Patterson. The Chargers are hoping that Harbaugh can help them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2018. The team has not won a playoff game since 2008.
