Latvia's AirBaltic Expands Airbus Fleet

Fourth Reorder Brings Total Firm Order to 80 A220s

Riga, Latvia - AirBaltic has confirmed an incremental order for an additional 10 A220-300 aircraft, taking the airline's total firm order for the type to 80. The announcement was made by Airbus on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

This is the fourth reorder by airBaltic since its initial order for 20 A220-300s during the Dubai Airshow in 2016. The carrier currently operates a fleet of 44 A220-300s, with the remaining 36 aircraft scheduled for delivery over the coming years.

The A220-300 is a state-of-the-art single-aisle aircraft that offers superior fuel efficiency, increased comfort, and reduced operating costs. It is well-suited for short- and medium-haul routes and has been a key factor in airBaltic's growth and expansion.

"The A220-300 has proven to be a highly reliable and efficient aircraft for our operations, and we are delighted to add another 10 aircraft to our fleet," said Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic. "This investment will allow us to continue serving our customers with the best possible experience and to further expand our network."

"We are honored that airBaltic has once again placed its confidence in the A220 family," said Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International. "The A220-300 has become a clear favorite among airlines and passengers alike, and we are confident that it will continue to play a key role in airBaltic's future success."
